The Belarusian School in Wroclaw was founded in 2021 as a result of a combination of talented Belarusian teachers and parents interested in educating children in the Belarusian language. This is the third school year. Every weekend children come to the Belarusian language lessons, study the history and cultural heritage of Belarus, prepare songs, performances and, of course, play together a lot during breaks and classes (because classes at the School are not like typical school lectures). Pupils and teachers go on excursions around the city or take part in celebrations of Kupalle, Gukanne Viasny and other events organized by the Belarusian Solidarity Association.
The duration of the lessons 45-100 minutes (depends on the subject and the age of the participants). Detailed and up-to-date schedule can be viewed on the School’s Instagram page here.
At the moment the School has 5 groups with a total number of about 40 people. As usual the recruitment of new groups takes place in September – new children are welcome! But if you have a great desire, it is possible to start classes at the School throughout the school year. In 2023/24 classes are free of charge (parents only reimburse the cost of stationery used by the children). The fees for the next year 2024/25 will be known before the start of the school year.
